ALPINE COMMUNITY CHURCH CELEBRATES THE SEASON WITH CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING
Tuesday, December 15th
On the lawn of the Alpine Community Church, a festive crowd anxiously awaited the count down and power switch to be activated in the first annual Alpine Community Church Tree Lighting. Board President Stephanie Dello Russo greeted the crowd. “While the Alpine Church has been a fixture of this Community since its founding in 1841, it’s with great pleasure we welcome old and new members. Many have been baptized and married in our beautiful Church, and many more worship every Sunday. We invite more to follow. Blessings to all.”
Pastor Claude Hubbard led the invocation and was followed by inspirational words from Rabbi Nat Benjamin of Chavurah Beth Shalom.
The cheery crowd counted down the final seconds and just at the right moment the dark night was transformed to a multi-color light display. “The Christmas Tree” on the corner of the Alpine Church property is now proudly wearing a rainbow of lights. Overlooking the historic steeple of the Church, music filled the air, led by the singing of Zia and Rehana Uehling.
Moving to the Community House, Alpine School Principal Ms. Maureen McCann introduced the School Band and Chorus, led by Marcia Hankle. Refreshments and seasonal music confirmed that the Christmas season is now in full swing. Cathy Campbell, the Alpine Church Musical Director, continued to elevate spirits with piano music to accompany the voices of the children and congregation.
The Board of the Alpine Community Church extends sincere thanks to the Alpine Police, Fire Department, and the Alpine School.
“The Christmas spirit is alive and well at the Alpine Community Church,” Mrs. Dello Russo continued. “We invite any and all to stop by for one of our many Church gatherings in the coming weeks. All are welcome.”
